World XI to play two T20 matches against Pakistan in Karachi

After striving efforts made by Sindh Sports Minister, Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah and his team, finally some hope of revival of International Cricket in Pakistan is developed.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah,
the chief organizer of the event announced on Friday that World XI has agreed to come Pakistan and play two T20 matches against Pakistan All Stars XI at National Stadium Karachi under lights on October 20 & 21.
Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya will lead World XI while ex- Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi will be leading Pakistani side.
Dr Shah said, “We have finalized all the arrangements to hold these matches in a befitting manner under tight security.”
The teams will stay in the Sheraton hotel and will have practice session at Karachi Gymkhana Ground on Oct 19, because of security reasons they would not be practicing in the stadium.
“We will provide fool proof security to the visiting team,” Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad urged while presiding the Organizing Committee. He expressed that the successful hosting of these T20 matches will be a great step towards revival of International Cricket in Pakistan. He gave instructions to all the agencies to work together for successful hosting of the two matches.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s All Stars XI will take on World XI in two Twenty20 matches at National Stadium under lights here on October 20-21, Chief Organiser Dr Muhammad Ali Shah announced on Friday.

Former Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya will lead the World XI, while ex-Pakistan Captain Shahid Afridi will lead the Pakistan XI.

World XI: Ricardo Powell, Steven Taylor, Jermaine Charles Lawson, Adam Sanford (West Indies), Justin Kemp, Lungile Bosman, Mthandeki Tschabalala, Andre Nel, Andre Johann Seymore, M Hayword (South Africa), Shapoor Zadran and Muhammad Shehzad Muhammadi (Afghanistan).

“We have finalised all the arrangements to hold these matches in a befitting manner under tight security,” said Dr Shah, who is also Sindh Sports Minister.

Earlier, presiding over the Organising Committee meeting on Thursday evening Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad expressed the hope the that successful staging of these matches would open the door for return of international cricket to Pakistan. “We will provide foolproof security to the visiting team,” the Governor said.

He directed all the agencies to work together for successfully hosting the two matches.

The meeting was also attended by President KCCA Syed Sirajul Islam Bukhari, Commissioner Karachi Hashim Raza Zaidi, Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed, Inspector General Sindh Police Fayyaz Leghari, Additional IGP Sindh Iqbal Mahmood, DIG Traffic Khurram Gulzar and other officials.
